OXNARD, CA, August 28, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hundreds of classic cars are heading to the Channel Islands Harbor for the Ventura Vintage Rods Harbor Run 25. More than 300 classic cars will be entered in Harbor Run 25 - all dating before 1975. The show features a variety of classic cars including shiny muscle cars from '57 Chevys, T-Birds, GTOs, Mustangs, and Camaros to 1930s coupes with rumble seats, along with an array of pick-up trucks ranging from the 1950s to mid-1970s are some of the classic cars that will be on display from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Harborview Park in Channel Islands Harbor at 3810 W. Harbor Blvd., Oxnard.

Attendance is free to the public. There is a $30 registration for community members who wish to display their vintage car at the event. Registrants are also asked to bring two canned food items to be donated to FOOD Share of Ventura County. Several trophies will be handed out, along with raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds benefit local charities.

"One hundred percent of our profits from Harbor Run go straight to local organizations," said Ventura Vintage Rods' event coordinator Charles Roark. "We're expecting several thousand people this year, along with hundreds of unique vintage rods, classic trucks and vendors making really good food. Come see the cars, visit the vendors and support local charities."

Last year, the event again raised about $15,000. Year-round, Ventura Vintage Rods helps raise money to donate to local charities, such as Oxnard Police K9 Unit, Oxnard Fire Explorers, Turning Point Foundation, Catholic Charities Ventura and local food banks.

As the first recreational harbor in Ventura County, Channel Islands Harbor has become one of the largest in California, after Marina Del Rey and San Diego in Southern California. It now includes over 300 acres of land and water, but the initial development included only a small portion of the current harbor area. Additional construction took place over the years, including the west channel of the harbor, along Harbor Boulevard and Peninsula Road. Development of the harbor has been largely accomplished through leases with private developers, who have constructed eight marinas (not including the three constructed by the County) comprising over 2200 boat slips, two hotels, two yacht club buildings, two boat yards, three shopping areas, two freestanding restaurants, a Maritime Museum, over 100 condominiums and 485 apartments. In addition, public agencies have provided parks, restrooms, the public launch ramp and parking for the public.
