The USDA Natural Resources Conservation offers the highest standards and technology available in order to assist landowners with agriculture, hayland and pasture management, development of water systems for livestock, fencing and paddock solutions for livestock, water quality monitoring, natural resource management, rural development and other concerns related to the efficient management of their resources.

Ms. Patty Dyer earned her Master's Degree in Agricultural Education and her Bachelor of Science Degree with a dual major in Agricultural Education and Agronomy from The Ohio State University. Ms. Dyer graduated with distinction through the combined Bachelor's/Master's Program in a total of 13 quarters.

With over thirty-four years of experience, Patty Dyer has served as Direct Conservationist in several counties and is currently serving as an Area Grassland Conservationist with the USDA, specializing in agricultural education relating to grazing management issues. Ms. Dyer educates and assists farmers in the development and implementation of conservation plans to address their natural resource usage and concerns.

Daily, you will find Patty Dyer advising and working with farmers to develop conservation plans for livestock management in order to improve the usage and productivity of their pastures and haylands. By teaching farmers to take into consideration how to address resource concerns involving the development of water systems, fencing systems, rotation of grazing schedules and other practices, Ms. Dyer is able to address soil productivity and water quality on their land. Patty Dyer instructs farmers by planning efficient and effective land usage, and by designing fencing systems that will regulate livestock access to forages and implement a water development plan. Consequently, they will be able to intensively manage the grazing of their cattle and other livestock, still have fresh forages available during the winter months, and be able to harvest excess hay for future use. Ms. Dyer additionally assists farmers in working with several cost-share programs in order to implement the conservation plans and needed conservation practices they have identified.

Through her dedication and commitment to conservation concerns, Patty Dyer has acquired several industry related certification and licensures. She holds a Private and Commercial Pesticide Applicator license. Additionally, she is a certified Crop Advisor, certified Conservation Planner, and certified Forage and Grassland Professional.

Patty Dyer is an instructor for the Basic Grazing Schools, Advanced Grazing Schools and the Livestock Environmental Assurance Program, with adaptations made in the programs for horse owners. She serves as her local Grange President and is a leader in many community projects. One such project was the difficult decision-making process of maintaining the 123-year-old Grange building that was not meeting the current community needs, or to tear down the historic building and build a new one which would meet the needs of the community. Once the decision was made to build a new structure, Ms. Patty Dyer designed the new building and acted as General Contractor until the building was completed. As a result, the Grange membership is growing.

After serving as Chairperson on the Board of Trustees for eight years, Patty Dyer now serves as President for the Ohio Grange Charitable Foundation, Inc. a 501c3 organization which serves senior citizens, children, physically challenged individuals and other community members, by offering a variety of programs and skill development opportunities. Ms. Dyer also manages Friendly Hills Camp and Conference Center for the Foundation in her spare time. Additionally, for the past 25 years during the summer months, Patty Dyer has co-directed a camp with her sister for children ages 5-14.

Ms. Patty Dyer has a lifetime membership with the Gallia Academy FFA Alumni Association, which she helped get reinstated back into the school system. She belongs to the Ohio State University of Agriculture Alumni Association. Patty Dyer is also a member of the National Association of Professional Woman, earning the honor of Woman of the Year for 2011-2012 and has volunteered for over 40 years, raising funds and volunteering at functions run by her local volunteer fire department. Patty Dyer has been published numerous times in the Farm and Dairy newspaper, the Gallipolis Daily Tribune, the Old Grange Magazine, and several Soil and Water Conservation District newsletters. She also worked for several years with local agricultural leaders to develop and publish a weekly farm information page and a mystery farm picture contest in the Pomeroy Daily Sentinel and the Gallipolis Daily Tribune; publications covering a 3-county and 2-state area.

Ms. Patty Dyer is a very sought-after speaker and educator. She is held in very high esteem in the agricultural community and in the local community for all she has contributed unselfishly for so many years.
