Dr. Yoichiro Ito Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Pathology

Dr. Ito is regarded by his peers for extensive work in the development of countercurrent chromatography and cell separation method

    BETHESDA, MD, June 16, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Yoichiro Ito has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Since 1978, Dr. Ito has served as the medical officer of the National Institutes of Health, one of the world's foremost medical research centers. With an expertise that encompasses research in separation science, he is regarded by his peers for his extensive work in the development of countercurrent chromatography, cell separation method, initiated and developed countercurrent chromatography. Additionally, he holds patents for coil planet centrifuge, rotating-seal-free, flow-through centrifuge, pH-zone-refining countercurrent chromatography and centrifugal precipitation chromatography. Dr. Ito's areas of competency have been defined by the roles in which he has succeeded throughout his career. After interning at US Yokosuka Naval Hospital and completing residencies in pathology at the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Ill., he worked as an instructor of physiology at Osaka City University Medical School and a visiting scientist for the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.

In recognition of professional excellence spanning six decades, Dr. Ito was the recipient of a first place award for his presentation at Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital's annual science research conference. He was the recipient of a technical excellence award in 1979 and again in 2010, and he spearheaded a research travel fund grant proposal that was awarded to him by the National Institute of Medical Research in London. Passionate about research, Dr. Ito intends to continue his work in the years to come.
