Junior Program at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore, California Succeeds in Putting Youth on Path to Success

The Junior program at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore enrolls youth age seven to 17, and has produced junior golfers who excel at the sport. Many gain golf scholarships to college. Some travel over 100 miles to participate in the Junior program.

    LIVERMORE, CA, July 13, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The nationally-recognized Junior Golf program at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore, California, which enrolls approximately 300 junior golfers a year, ranging in age from seven to 17, has an impressive track record of helping youth from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the Central Valley excel in golf.

Recent success stories of Junior Program alumni:

- Kirabo Reed-Will attend Alabama State University on a golf scholarship in Fall 2016.

- Sophia Hui-Pomona College, Class of 2019, plays on Pomona-Pitzer's Women's Golf team.

- Jacob Solomon- Auburn University, Class of 2019; plays on Auburn University Men's Golf Team; named to Southeastern Conference 2016 All-Freshman team; won California state high school golf championship, 2015; three-time Junior All-American-American Junior Golf Association.

- Chris Parkinson-Captained San Ramon Valley High School golf team in junior and senior years; three-time All East Bay Athletic League first-team selection; three Northern California Golf Association wins; advanced to U.S. Open final stage qualifier in 2013. UC Irvine Class of 2018.

- Kimberly Liu- Scholarship to University of San Francisco, Class of 2018; Northern California team at the 2013 Mary Cave Cup; first place finishes at 2013 Nor Cal High School Invitational, and at North Coast Section Championship.

Other successes of the program include Pat Hirst, long-time member of the LPGA; Todd Fisher, PGA tour member; Joel Kribel, PGA Tour member; and Steve Mono the National Director of the World Golf Hall of Fame, who has been recognized as one of the top ten most influential people in golf in the world.

The Junior program is headed up by Jeff DeBenedetti, PGA, Las Positas's Director of Golf, along with a team of Class "A" Golf Professionals and PGA apprentices.

About Las Positas Golf Course
Las Positas Golf Course is a certified National California Golf Association (NCGA) Youth on Course Facility certifying juniors to become members of the Youth on Course Program. This program allows juniors to receive a discounted green fee at many northern California golf courses as well as the Executive Golf Course at Las Positas Golf Course.

The course is a recently renovated Robert Muir Graves designed course offering a challenge for players at any skill level. Located in Livermore Wine Country, the Signature 18-hole course is a par 72 stretching a very walkable 6,723 yards. The golf course is ideal for families, league play for men, ladies, seniors, juniors, tournaments, and events.
