    WATERBURY, CT, August 11, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Stanley J. Dudrick has been included in Marquis Who's Who. After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology with honors from Franklin & Marshall College in 1957, Dr. Dudrick went on to earn his MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1961. He continued his medical studies with an internship and a residency in general surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Dudrick has since established himself as an esteemed surgeon, research scientist, and educator. A diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, he received an honorary Master of Arts from Yale University in 1999, a Doctor of Humane Letters (Hon) from Misericordia University in 2010, and a Doctor of Science (Hon) from Franklin & Marshall College in 2013.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Dudrick has taught at a number of universities including his Alma Mater, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, as well as The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (Founding Department of Surgery Chairman), Yale University School of Medicine, Quinnipiac University, Temple University, Misericordia University, and The Commonwealth Medical College. He served at Saint Mary's Hospital/Yale Affiliate in Waterbury, CT, as Director of Medical Education, Associate Chairman, and Chairman of the Department of Surgery from 1995-2008, as well as Professor of Surgery at Yale from 1995-2012, when he was elected Professor of Surgery Emeritus at Yale. From 2000-2002 he also served as Chairmen of the Department of Surgery and Director of Surgical Education at the Bridgeport Hospital/Yale-New Haven Health System. He was appointed Robert S. Anderson, MD, Endowed Professor and Medical Director, Physician Assistant Studies, Misericordia University, 2011; and Professor of Surgery, The Commonwealth Medical College, 2013.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Dudrick has also remained active in leadership, membership, and consulting positions with a multitude of medical organizations, committees, and institutions. His numerous professional affiliations include the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society of University Surgeons, the American Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Nutrition, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Texas Surgical Society, among many others. He has contributed chapters to books and articles to professional/scientific journals, and has served as editor of several medical publications. As a researcher, Dr. Dudrick is noted for his invention, development, and clinical application of a novel technique of intravenous feeding permitting neonatal metabolic support, and bone marrow and intestinal transplantation support; and the development of home parenteral nutrition and home healthcare.

Dr. Dudrick's accomplishments have been highlighted time and again through various formal honors and awards including being named a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 2007, a recipient of the Jacobson Innovation Award from the American College of Surgeons in 2005, the Medallion for Scientific Achievement and Distinguished Service of the American Surgical Association in 2009, and having Saint Mary's Hospital establish and name the "Stanley J. Dudrick, MD, Department of Surgery" in 2009. The Distinguished Service Award of the Society of Surgical Oncology in 2014 and the Life-Time Achievement Award of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition in 2016 are among his recent honors. In 2016, Dr. Dudrick was recognized by Medscape as one of the Fifty Most Influential Physicians in History. Dr. Dudrick has been featured in the 44th through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 1st through 8th editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and the 24th and 25th editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest. He has also appeared in several editions of Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
