Ailene Rogers Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Education

Ms. Rogers spent more than six decades as a science teacher at the middle school, high school and college levels



She earned a grant from the National Science Foundation at American University and was named a Chopinsky fellow of the Ukrainian Educational Exchange

    CENTERPORT, NY, August 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ailene Rogers has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Celebrating a career that began in the late 1950s, Ms. Rogers is an award-winning teacher who has worked at the middle school, high school and college levels. With an expertise in science education, she was a teacher at Hauppauge Middle School, Oak Grove Coburn School, the National Cathedral School and American University. She was also coordinator of the water logging program of the Cornell Cooperative Extension for the National Park Service, co-director of the Student Conservation Association in Charlestown, N.H., and the head of the science department of the National Cathedral School. For educational excellence, Ms. Rogers was named Environmentalist of the Year by the Town of Huntington. Further, she earned a grant from the National Science Foundation at American University and was named a Chopinsky fellow of the Ukrainian Educational Exchange. She was also selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.

Ms. Rogers was a founder of the Setauket Environmental Center in 1970 and sat on the board of governors and the board of directors of the Student Conservation Program. Over the course of her career, she has taken on consulting roles for the School Wide Environmental Education Program in New York City, the Pittston Conservation Commission, the McLean High School Student Parent Teacher Association, and the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Math and Science Education committee. When queried about her successes, Ms. Rogers credited her passion for education and her own academic history. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College and two Masters of Science degrees: one in biology from American University and the other in environmental biology from George Mason University.

As she looks to the future, although retired, Ms. Rogers intends to continue giving back to the educational community. She plans to take on civic projects that benefit the educational systems in her local area.
