    PASADENA, CA, September 02, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Benjamin Scott has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Scott is an award-winning electrical engineer and U.S. Army veteran who has met with success throughout his career by remembering one thing: hard work pays off. Noteworthy professional roles include project electrical engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense in China Lake, Calif. and director of special projects for the Defense Department in Pasadena, Calif. In 1977, he established Benjamin Scott & Associates, a consulting firm located in San Francisco. Nearly four decades later, Mr. Scott's influence has stretched beyond Northern California. In 1978, he relocated to Los Angeles and then to Pasadena in 1981. In recognition of professional excellence in the military and the field of electrical engineering consulting, Mr. Scott has earned a bevy of distinctions. He is a decorated hero for time served during World War II; he participated in the "Easter" Sunday morning invasion of Okinawa in April 1945 at the age of 15½, and the Korean War, and he received a recognition award from Civil Rights Field Time Magazine. Additionally, he was honored by President Richard Nixon and earned a Superior Achievement Award from the U.S. Defense Department. Mr. Scott also earned a Humanitarian Peace Award from Vista University South Africa and was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.

In addition to his professional work, Mr. Scott gives back to his community through his civic involvement in programs and organizations focused on racial equality. Since 1952, he has been a community organizer for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He has also served as an international organizer for Africa People to People, coordinator of the Pasadena Urban Coalition, consultant for black and minority businesses, and contributor to South African Peace Negotiations. He received the Humanitarian Award from William R. Tolbert Jr., President of Liberia, Africa. Mr. Scott has also published books, including "Perspectives of Apartheid South Africans: One Man's Journey" and "South Africa, An Emerging Democracy."

Mr. Scott has also been heavily involved in politics for the past 60 years. He first participated in Eisenhower's campaign and continued to do so did right up through Barack Obama's 2008 and 2012 campaigns. Mr. Scott has been invited to seven presidential inaugurations and was invited to Senator Glenn's inauguration of a ship that was named after him in 2014.

Mr. Scott earned an Associate of Arts from Pasadena City College in 1954, a Bachelor of Science from Pacific State University in 1959, and a Master in Management Science from UCLA in 1969. Today, he affiliates with the Clara Barton Society, Mystic Shrine, American Disabled Veterans and the American Legion. As he looks to the future, Mr. Scott intends to enjoy his retirement, take on select consulting projects, and write his autobiography.
