Dr. John F. Mullane Posthumously Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Pharmacology

    SARASOTA, FL, September 08, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. John F. Mullane has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Mullane was a pharmaceutical executive known for developing major drugs, including Inderal, Premarin, Lodine, Coumadin and Cozaar. Over the course of his career, which began in 1963, he held noteworthy roles with prominent laboratories and pharmaceutical organizations across the country. At Ayerst Laboratories, a division of the American Home Products Corporation, he was the director of clinical research from 1975 to 1976, vice president of clinical research from 1977 to 1978, vice president of science from 1978 to 1982, senior vice president from 1982 to 1983, and executive vice president from 1983 to 1988. Thereafter, Dr. Mullane joined the team at DuPont Medical Products, where he served as director of drug development in 1990, and senior vice president from 1991 to 1994. He then worked for Amylin Pharmaceuticals in San Diego serving as executive vice president from 1994 to 1996. Most recently, he worked as a health care consultant in New York and California before retiring. Dr. Mullane also served at Walter Reed Medical Center to Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army 1970-73.

In recognition of professional excellence, Dr. Mullane was the recipient of the Upjohn Achievement Award and was chosen as a New York Heart Association fellow. Additionally, he was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in Finance, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World. He was a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology and a member of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and the American Association of the Study of Liver Diseases.

Dr. Mullane's career was supported by his education. He earned an MD and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York Medical Center, in 1963 and 1968 respectively. He also earned a JD from Fordham University in 1977.
