She has received two Mental Health Matters Awards from the Mental Health Association of New South Wales
BATHURST, AUSTRALIA, September 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Erica Pitman has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
An accredited supervisor of counselling, Ms. Pitman has spent her career helping others as a counsellor and mental health care professional. Currently the Executive Officer of the Central West Women's Health Centre, she previously held many noteworthy roles with Carers New South Wales, including young carer project coordinator, rural and program coordinator, senior education and training officer for the family and carer mental health program. Successful largely because of her passion, hard work and tenacity, Ms. Pitman also acted as a mental health worker for the Children of Prisoner's Support Group and as group development officer for the Association of Relatives & Friends of the Mentally Ill. Her greatest achievement was the development of the SMILES (Simplifying Mental Illness + Life Enhancement Skills) Program in 1997 for children with a parent or sibling experiencing mental health problems. The program was recognized as international best practice by the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry in in 2004. In recognition of professional excellence, Ms. Pitman was named New Zealand Travel Consultant of the Year in 1994. Additionally, she has received two Mental Health Matters Awards from the Mental Health Association of New South Wales and was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in the World on six occasions.
To stay at the top of her field, Ms. Pitman affiliates with the Central West Facilitators Network, Cancer Counselling Professionals, the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia, and Funeral Celebrants Association Australia. Previously she was involved in a number of community programs, including those with the New South Wales branch of the Association of Relatives & Friends of the Mentally Ill. Ms. Pitman acted as a liaison officer and program facilitator. She was also a committee member of the AFS Intercultural program in Palmerston North, New Zealand and acted as a co-tutor for sibling education and support with the New South Wales Schizophrenia Fellowship.
Ms. Pitman considers her education, certifications and life experiences to be the foundation of her successes. She holds an advanced diploma in applied social science from the Australian College Applied Psychology, which she earned in 1998. She is certified in workplace training through the Center for Community Welfare Training, and management and training through Dale Carnegie & Associates. Further, she is a registered Australian counsellor and supervisor. Looking to the future, Ms. Pitman is passionate about pursuing her interest in death, dying and spirituality.
