    SIDNEY, OH, October 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Joseph Martino has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Joseph Martino is a military veteran, research scientist and engineer with a wealth of experience. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1953, and went on to advance through the military until his retirement from the Air Force as a colonel in 1975. During his time in the military, Dr. Martino worked as a project engineer in the armament laboratory and staff scientist in the avionics laboratory of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was also a mathematician in the Air Force's Office of Scientific Research. In his final role before re-entering civilian life, Dr. Martino was the director of engineering standardization for the Defense Department's Defense Electronics Supply Center. He then spent almost two decades as a senior scientist at the University of Dayton's Research Institute.

Prior to being commissioned, Dr. Martino earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Miami University. He continued his studies while serving, obtaining a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1955, and a Ph.D. in mathematics and statistics from Ohio State University in 1960. In 1972, Dr. Martino graduated from Air War College. Over the course of his career, he became a fellow of IEEE and an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His further professional affiliations include the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Portland International Center for Management of Engineering and Technology (PICMET), and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences.

Dr. Martino has utilized his writing and editing skills numerous times over the years. In addition to authoring a number of scientific papers and articles, he wrote the book "Technological Forecasting for Decision Making," originally published in 1972 with a revised edition published in 1983 and a third edition published in 1992. Dr. Martino also authored "A Fighting Chance: The Moral Use of Nuclear Weapons," published in 1988, "Science Funding: Politics and Porkbarrel," published in 1992, "Research and Development Project Selection," published in 1995, and "Resistance to Tyranny," published in 2010. He was assistant editor of the Technological Forecasting and Social Change Journal from 1968 to 2016. Furthermore, Dr. Martino penned a novel titled, "The Justice Cooperative," published in 2004.

In light of his achievements, Dr. Martino was chosen to be featured in the 44th through 70th editions of Who's Who in America and the 18th edition of Who's Who in the World. He has also appeared in several editions of Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
