The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) is now premiering the new "PLANNING AHEAD" streaming media video in its Digital Media Library (DML).

RALEIGH, NC, October 16, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) announces the debut of its streaming media video focused on planning ahead in its Digital Media Library (DML) online at http://www.uspsdml.org and as a free mobile app.

The new "Planning Ahead" video shows viewers how to plan ahead by obtaining and being able to share weather conditions and forecasts, creating a basic navigation plan, evaluating hazards and other environmental factors, and assessing conditions - including wind, tide, and current - as to their favorableness for their voyage given the distance and time of the trip.

Viewers will also learn to advise passengers and crew of what clothes, equipment, food, and beverages to bring.

Also featured are special tips such as planning to have the proper amount of fuel for the trip and alerting a key contact person of the boat's expected return time.

Along with the new video, the USPS DML is adding a related boater education slideshow on Using GPS as well as several new safe boating images.

The USPS DML is also distributing its "Planning Ahead" video through popular social media including Facebook and YouTube. All digital media in the library is offered at no charge.

The USPS Digital Media Library is produced under a grant from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund administered by the US Coast Guard.

The United States Power Squadrons is the premier boating organization dedicated to "Safe Boating through Education" since 1914.
