Patient Suffering From DVT Treated Successfully With Novel Mechanical Thrombectomy Device

Aspire Successful in DVT Cases

"The Aspire device is a safe, easy and a less costly way to remove clot in my DVT patients," said Dr. Gonzales.

PARK CITY, UT, October 19, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Carl Gonzales II, a Vascular Surgeon with Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers, Georgia, was successful in treating a patient with Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) using the Aspire Mechanical Thrombectomy Device.

The patient presented with acute DVT in their left Iliofemaoral veins post abdominal surgery. When a patient undergoes an open surgical procedure they cannot be treated with any thrombolytics (blood thinners) post operatively. Many devices currently on the market use thrombolytics to treat DVT. The Aspire Mechanical Thrombectomy device (which does not use thrombolytics) was used with a large bore guide catheter. The thrombus was removed and the symptoms were successfully treated. The total case time was 35 minutes with 100cc blood loss.

"The Aspire device is a safe, easy and a less costly way to remove clot in my DVT patients," said Dr. Gonzales. "Patients with DVT can be a challenge to treat, especially when not able to use thrombolytics. The Aspire device is unique in that it does not use this. My staff was amazed at the ease of use and the simple set up of the system."

The ASPIRE Mechanical Thrombectomy System allows clinicians to instantly start, stop, increase, decrease, pulse, or maintain thrombectomy force during a procedure. ASPIRE Mechanical Aspirators also aspirate up to 280ml, almost 10 times more than basic syringe-based systems, without multiple messy and time-consuming catheter connections, disconnections, and re-connections to improve speed and performance.

"There are many patients suffering from DVT," said Chris Livingstone, VP of Sales and Marketing for Control Medical Technology. "We are optimistic that the Aspire Mechanical Thrombectomy system will be a valuable tool for physicians to treat these patients. The Aspire device combines the ability to aspirate clot with high force, improved speed, increased volume and greater control. The device is very simple set up and is a cost effective alternative to other devices on the market."

The patented ASPIRE Mechanical Thrombectomy System is available by itself or in kits that include an over-the-wire or rapid exchange thrombectomy catheter. ASPIRE Mechanical Aspirators may also be connected to any thrombectomy catheter the clinician chooses.

Control Medical Technology designs, develops, and markets innovative thrombus management, biopsy, and aspiration devices, including the patented ASPIRE Mechanical Aspirator, ASPIRE RX-LP6 Mechanical Thrombectomy System, and ASPIRE MAX Thrombectomy System.
