Eric M. Javits Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Work as a Lawyer & Ambassador

Mr. Javits, who has previously worked as a lawyer and an ambassador, is a director of the Palm Beach Civic Association, which is dedicated to protecting and improving the quality of life around Palm Beach, Fla. He also stands as the chairman of Carver Scientific Inc., a position he has held since 2014. In addition to these accomplished roles, he has written two books, "SOS New York" and "Twists and Turns." The latter is a personal memoir that illustrates intriguing historical incidents from Mr. Javits' personal point of view. Truly a unique book, it also details his process of transitioning from a lawyer to a diplomat in chemical weapons arms control.

To set off on his career with the goal to become a lawyer, Mr. Javits earned a Bachelor of Arts and a JD from Columbia University. In 1955, he was certified by the New York State Bar and began working at Javits & Javits in 1955. He eventually became partner and remained in this position until 1982. Just a few years later, he went on to join Javits, Robinson, Brog, Leinwand & Reich as its senior partner and shortly thereafter, earned the title of senior counsel.

Throughout the course of his legal career, Mr. Javits specialized in solving difficult international relations and negotiations. This led him to act as an ambassador to organizations all over the world, serving as a U.S. permanent representative and ambassador for the United Nations Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, as well as for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Mr. Javits has also been a member of the advisory committee to the director-general for the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Mr. Javits has been featured in various Who's Who publications due to his exceptional work as both a lawyer and an ambassador. These include Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in American Politics, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World. Mr. Javits has also received the Order of Isabella the Catholic and Queen SofĂ­a Spanish Institute's Gold Medal.

Currently, Mr. Javits is Chairman of Carver Scientific, Inc., President of Eric Javits Family Foundation, member of The University Club of New York, and member of Beta Theta Pi, Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternities. In the past, he has also taken on numerous civic roles, such as special deputy to the New York Attorney General's Elections Frauds Bureau, of counsel to the New York Senate Committee on Affairs of New York City, and director of various charitable and philanthropic organizations. The work Mr. Javits has completed in all of his roles will live on as he continues to be recognized as an extraordinary lawyer and diplomat.
