BROOKLYN, NY, November 25, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helene C. Andreu has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Between the years of 1957 and 1968, an era of American history characterized by great turmoil and social justice movements that sought to unify a torn nation, Helene Andreu performed as a singer, dancer and choreographer for the touring theater company American Savoyards. She was also a dance instructor at private studios throughout Brooklyn and a substitute teacher for the NYC Public School system and an instructor at afterschool and evening community centers sponsored by the New York City Board of Education. Whether working with trained professionals or youngsters eager to express themselves and their creativity through movement, Ms. Andreu brought a unique quality to her teaching that highlighted her students' best abilities.

For a brief time, Ms. Andreu also performed with the Pennsylvania-based Ephrata Star Playhouse before teaching adult dance courses in New York City from 1973 through 2002. Most recently, she was a dance instructor for Baruch College, Brooklyn College, New York City College of Technology (over 20 years), and the Henry Street Settlement, which has its roots in social reform and currently provides a range of art, health care and service-oriented programs for New York City residents. Though her legacy is mostly solidified through the memories of those who had the pleasure of witnessing her perform or being under her tutelage, Ms. Andreu is also a published author, having penned "Jazz Dance: An Adult Beginners Guide," "Aerobic Razzmatazz-12 Workouts by 12 Minutes Each," "Jazz Dance Styles and Steps for Fun," "DANCE, MOVEMENT, AND NUTRITION: Fitness Minutes for a Healthier Life," and "Dance - An Illustrated History," which was released in 2015.

Outside of her professional obligations, Ms. Andreu was also heavily involved in civic duties, namely as a volunteer with the Brooklyn Public Library Literacy Program and Brooklyn College's Brooklyn Lifelong Learning initiative. She has been published in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
