Dr. Vincent Geenen Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Health Care

Dr. Geenen continues to use his research to make contributions to his field



In light of his achievements, Dr. Geenen was honored with the Masius Prize by the Liège Medico-Surgical Society.

    LIEGE, BELGIUM, November 25, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Vincent Geenen has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Well-known for his excellence as a physician and researcher, Dr. Geenen continues to thrive as he pursues his passions. His professional journey began with an internship at University Hospital in Liège, Belgium, in 1982, and upon the completion of his program with the hospital, he joined the National Fund of Science Research, where he grew into a variety of roles, including research fellow, research assistant, research associate, senior research associate, and, his current position, research professor. He also presently serves as the senior clinical head in endocrinology and internal medicine at University Hospital in Liège and as the director of the Liège Center of Immunoendocrinology.

As Dr. Geenen navigated through his career, he came across interesting findings and information that he decided to share with his community through literary engagements. He contributed to 153 scientific papers, as well as the book, "Thymus and T cells," in 2003. Further, Dr. Geenen was the editor of "Regulatory Peptides," in 1993 and "Current Opinion in Pharmacology, Immunomodulation Issue," in 2010, and was a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Endocrinology from 2001 to 2008. He also co-edited a number of publications, including "Horizons in Endocrinology," "In Vivo Immunology," and "Immunoendocrinology in Health and Disease," and authored "Cryptocrine Signaling in the Thymus and the Central T-Cell Self Tolerance of Neuroendocrine Principles," which was published in 1995.

Dr. Geenen prepared for his endeavors by earning an MD and a Ph.D. from the University of Liège in 1982 and 1987, respectively, as well as a degree in internal medicine from Liège Medical School and a biotechnology certification from the University of Paris VII, both in 1988. To stay connected to the goings on in his field and ensure he provides his patients with the most current information, he maintains affiliation with professional organizations, such as the Royal Academy Medicine, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, the American Association of Immunologists, and the Endocrine Society.

In light of his achievements, Dr. Geenen was honored with the Masius Prize by the Liège Medico-Surgical Society in 1985, the Semper Prize from the National Fund of Science Research in 1988, the Glaxo Smith Kline-Beecham Prize from the Royal Academy of Medicine in 1992, an Alumni Prize from Belgium University Foundation in 1993, the Alphonse Rahier Prize in 2003, and a Literacy Prize from Prince Alexander of Belgium in 2014. He was also selected for inclusion in numerous editions of Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in Finance and Business.
