Brook Hart Celebrated for Accomplishments in Law

Brook Hart is a highly-experienced criminal defense lawyer who began his career in 1966 after earning an LLB from Columbia University. He then served as a Law Clerk to the chief judge at the U.S. District Court of Hawaii. He steadily progressed throughout his career, serving as Chief Public Defender for the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, an associate at Greenstein and Cowan, the co-founder and partner of Hart, Leavitt, Hall and Hunt, and the co-founder and partner of Hart and Wolff, before taking on his current role as senior partner at his private firm, the Law Offices of Brook Hart. Here, Mr. Hart represents clients who have either been charged with serious state or federal crimes or have been placed under investigation by law enforcement agencies. He is proud of his ability to ensure that the constitutional rights of his clients are upheld, and believes that everyone is entitled to a strong defense.

Mr. Hart is also very active in his community. He has been a Lecturer in Law at The University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law since 1975, and has been actively involved with the Innocence Project since its inception in 2005. The project aims to review and correct wrongful convictions. As a result of Mr. Hart's significant contributions to the School of Law, a room in an addition being built will be named after him. He has also been a frequent guest commentator on Court Television Network shows, dating back to 1995, and contributed articles and chapters to professional publications and books. Further, Mr. Hart has served on the Hawaii Supreme Court Permanent Committee on Rules of Penal Procedure since 1984 and has been involved with the Hawaii Public Defender Advocacy Institute since 1993, among other professional engagements.

In light of his achievements, Mr. Hart was listed in "The Best Lawyers in America," every year since 1983 for his work in criminal law, white collar criminal defense law, and blue collar criminal defense law, and was named a Bencher by the American Inns of Court in Hawaii in 1982. He was also honored with inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in Finance and Industry, as well as Super Lawyers.
