WASHINGTON, DC, January 03, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Byron Cooper has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Cooper has spent more than 30 years in the field of pulmonary medicine. After earning a B.A. at Johns Hopkins University and an M.D. at Washington University, the ABIM certified pulmonologist interned at NYU's Bellevue Hospital Center from 1973 to 1974. He completed a two year residency in internal medicine at Bellevue in 1976 and was a Washington University School of Medicine fellow focused on pulmonary disease from 1976 to 1978. Dr. Cooper is a Clinical Professor at The School of Medicine & Health Sciences at George Washington University. He is an attending physician at George Washington University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Dr. Cooper has remained active in several related organizations throughout his career: he is a member of the American Medical Association; the American College of Physicians; the D.C. Thoracic Society, and was President 1994-5; the Medical Society of DC, where he was on the board of trustees from 1994 to 1996, vice president from 1996 to 1998, president from 1998 to 1999, and the chairman of the board of trustees from 1999 to 2000. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians.

For his industry related achievements, Dr. Cooper has been included in the 57th through 70th editions of Who's Who in America; the third, fifth, seventh and eighth editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare; the 11th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering; the 39th through 43rd editions of Who's Who in the East; and the 21st and 27th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World. He has been listed in Washingtonian Magazine's Top Doctors for more than 20 years.
