Sybil Friedenthal Roos Lauded for her Contributions to the Field of Elementary Education

She has won a variety of awards for her work, including an Honorary Award from the Moore School of Music in 2015, the Houston Symphony the same year, and the Houston Grand Opera in 2014 and 2015.

Recognized for nearly five decades of invaluable contributions to her field, Mrs. Friedenthal Roos parlays her extensive knowledge into her volunteering positions with the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Symphony Society since 1979, 1990 and 1997 respectively.

She earned her Bachelor of Music from Centenary College; her love of music started when she was just 5 years old. Her mother was a pianist and she wanted to follow in her footsteps. Mrs. Friedenthal Roos is a certified elementary education teacher and special education teacher who taught for Caddo Parish Schools in Shreveport and the Spring Branch Independent School District in Texas. During her time with Caddo, she returned to school, obtaining a Master of Elementary and Special Education from Northwestern State University.

Mrs. Friedenthal Roos is a member of the American Association of University Women, the Houston Ballet Guild and The Women's Club Houston. Throughout her career, she has won a variety of awards for her work, including an Honorary Award from the Moore School of Music in 2015, the Houston Symphony the same year, and the Houston Grand Opera in 2014 and 2015. Additionally, she has been featured in Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who in the World.
