William Ryerson Honored for Achievements as a Nonprofit Organization Executive

    SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT, January 06, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William Ryerson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. William Ryerson has served as the president of the Population Media Center since 1998. A Philadelphia native, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College and a Master of Philosophy from Yale University. Upon graduation, he joined the Population Institute as a director of the student intern program, where he remained for two years. At that point, he started a six-year stint with the Institute as the director of the youth and student division. For the following two years, he transferred to Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania as the director of development. Subsequently, he moved to Planned Parenthood of Northern New England as an associate director for five years.

Mr. Ryerson worked for the next 12 years as the executive vice president of Population Communications International before serving for almost a decade and a half as the president of Ryerson & Associates. He served as president of the Population Institute for three years, starting in 2008, and then became chair and CEO of the Institute. He has been a Fellow of the Post Carbon Institute since 2009. Throughout his lengthy career, he has contributed his extensive knowledge to many creative works, including the "Population Activist's Handbook," which he co-authored in 1974, "Communicating Sustainability," which he co-authored in 2000, and "The Post Carbon Reader," which he co-authored in 2010. He is the recipient of the Nafis Sadik Prize from the Rotarian Action Group on Population and Development in 2006. Additionally, he has been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.
