Roy H. Park, Jr. Celebrates 55 Years of Invaluable Contributions to His Field

Mr. Park is President and CEO of Park Outdoor Advertising of New York, Inc. and President and Chairman of Triad Foundation, Inc.



    ITHACA, NY, January 16, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With nearly five and a half decades of broad-based business experience, Mr. Park is uniquely qualified to oversee a wide range of managerial tasks as president, CEO and director of Park Outdoor Advertising of New York and president, chairman and director of Triad Foundation, Inc.

After graduating from Lawrenceville in 1956, earning a B.A. in journalism from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, Park joined J. Walter Thompson in New York City in 1963. Spending the next seven years with the world's largest advertising agency in creative, research, personnel and management positions, he was recruited in 1970 by the advertising division of First Union National Bank Corps (now Wells Fargo) in Charlotte, NC as VP Marketing and Account Management.

In 1971 he joined Park Communications, Inc., his father's multi-media empire which eventually reached 25 percent of the American public with its radio, television, newspapers and outdoor divisions. During the next 17 years Park served as VP Advertising and Promotion for its television division, as well as GM, VP and CEO of its outdoor advertising companies, which he purchased from his father in 1988. During this time he received the Chamber of Commerce's Project of the Year Award for bringing the Junior Olympics to Ithaca, and he founded the Outdoor Advertising Council of New York, Inc., serving as its president from 1986 to 1991, then chairman until 1995. Beginning in 1998 he also served as VP of Park Foundation, Inc., before splitting off in 2002 to form Triad Foundation, Inc. to honor his father's legacy.

Park is Trustee Emeritus of Cornell University and a Presidential Councillor, the highest honor its Board of Trustees can bestow. As a member of the Advisory Council of the Johnson Graduate School of Management since 1996, he was inducted into its Hall of Honor in 2004. He received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of North Carolina in 2005, and having served as a member of the Board of Advisors of UNC's School of Media and Journalism since 1999, he was inducted into its Advertising Hall of Fame in 2011. In 2015, Park was chosen to receive the William Richardson Davie Award, the highest honor given by the University of North Carolina's Board of Trustees.

In 2017, he was inducted into the North Carolina Media and Journalism Hall of Fame and was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the most prestigious awards conferred by the Governor of North Carolina to individuals who have provided exemplary service to their communities and to the state. He was also elected by the Cornell Board of Trustees as a founding member of the Leadership Council of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, the third largest business school in the world.

Since 1995, he has also served as a Vice Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research, Inc. located on the Cornell Campus, and is a life member of Cornell's Epsilon of New York Chapter of the Sigma Phi Society.

Mr. Park has parlayed his knowledge into a book called Sons in the Shadow: Surviving the Family Business as an SOB (Son of the Boss), published in 2016. He has been featured in Town & Country, Seventeen and The American Way magazines as well as in over 30 biographical publications including Who's Who in Advertising, Who's Who in Media and Communication, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, both the Cambridge and Strathmore Who's Who's, Who's Who Among U.S. Executives, Community Leaders in America, and the National Register's Who's Who of Executives and Professionals.
