Gloria Toplitt Honored for Excellence in Music Education & the Entertainment Industry

Gloria Toplitt brought her New York City stage experience to her work as a vocal teacher in North Hollywood



    NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA, January 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gloria Toplitt has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Gloria Toplitt embarked upon her career as a music educator, actress and vocalist after studying at the Guy Bates Post Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1943. She relocated from Los Angeles to New York City, where she worked as a stage performer from 1944 to 1959. Ms. Toplitt attained leading lady roles in productions such as "Oklahoma," "Chocolate Soldier," "Showboat," "Carousel," "Guys and Dolls," "Oh! Captain," and more.

From 1959 to 1961, Ms. Toplitt assumed a leadership role as director of entertainment for the cruise company, Holland America Line. Her profession then brought her back to California, where she became a voice teacher for North Hollywood Conservatory. It wasn't long before she decided to teach privately in North Hollywood, and she continued to do so until 1995. Ms. Toplitt also directed a workshop theater program in North Hollywood for 10 years, in addition to serving as a vocal coach for those with impaired voices since 1968. In 1997, she became a music specialist for NASA Space Science and Technology, Inc.'s outreach program in Springfield, Va.

Aside from these professional positions, Ms. Toplitt has written and composed a number of pieces, including "Parade of Planets" in 1998 and "Space Challenge" in 1999. She also created a voice recording for the Smithsonian Institution's "Songs of Harriet Ware Memorial." In a civic capacity, Ms. Toplitt served as a member of the election board for the Office of Voter Registrar in North Hollywood from 1996 to 1998.

Ms. Toplitt, who enjoys poetry, theater and travel in her spare time, has received a number of formal honors over the years for her efforts in the entertainment industry. These include a Woman in America Award and a Woman of the Year Award, both received in 2006. She was also named a Living Legend in 2003, one of the Greatest Minds of the 21st Century in 2002, and one of the Greatest Women in the 21st Century in 2007. Her accomplishments have been featured in the 56th through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 7th and 8th editions of Who's Who in American Education, and the 22nd through 28th editions of Who's Who of American Women. She has appeared in multiple editions of Who's Who in the World as well.
