Deborah Jackson, Ph.D., Honored for Excellence in Mathematics Education

Dr. Jackson is noted for her expertise in mathematics, statistics, algebra and semigroup theory



Today, Dr. Jackson is an associate curriculum fellow and associate lecturer at La Trobe University.

    OAKLEIGH, AUSTRALIA, January 24, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Deborah Jackson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Jackson has been a reviewer for Mathematical Reviews, a publication of the American Mathematical Society, since 1983. She is currently an Associate Curriculum Fellow and Lecturer at La Trobe University (since 2010), and a Teaching Associate at her alma mater, Monash University (since 2007). Dr. Jackson graduated with double honors from Monash University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts, having been awarded an Australian Commonwealth University scholarship in 1973. She then went on to earn a Ph.D. from the same institution and received a Commonwealth Postgraduate Research Award (1979-1981). Dr. Jackson had a Senior Tutor position at Monash University until 1985, after which time she spent 12 years as a lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology.

Today, Dr. Jackson is an associate curriculum fellow and associate lecturer at La Trobe University as well. She is respected for her expertise in mathematics, statistics, algebra and semigroup theory. Dr. Jackson has contributed a number of articles and papers to professional journals on these subjects, and is co-author of several textbooks . An active member of the mathematics community, Dr. Jackson is affiliated with the Mathematical Association of America, the Australasian Association for Engineering Education, the Statistical Society of Australia, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the American Mathematical Society and the Australian Mathematical Society. She served as chair of the Victorian Algebra Group from 1996 to 2003. These accomplishments and more were taken into consideration when Dr. Jackson was chosen to be featured in the 61st through 65th editions of Who's Who in America, the 6th through 12th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and multiple editions of Who's Who in the World.
