Ugo Oscar Gagliardi Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Computer Engineering Education and Practice

Dr. Gagliardi, who came to prominence as a director of engineering for Honeywell Information Systems (HIS) and professor of the practice of computer engineering at Harvard University, has been included in Marquis Who's Who on-line on Dec. 4, 2016



    CAMBRIDGE, MA, January 27, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For more than five decades, Dr. Gagliardi has been a leader in the field of systems software architecture. In the 70's he was HIS Chief System Architect for the new product line. At Harvard he introduced the earliest graduate courses on Operating Software (OS) and Data Base Management Systems (DBMS) architecture.

In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Gagliardi was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship at Columbia University in 1955. In addition, he was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
From 1985 to 1991 Prof. Gagliardi was a member of the National Academy of Sciences National Research Council Panel for the Institute of Computer Sciences and Technology of the National Institute for Science and Technology (NIST: formerly National Bureau of Standards). He served as the Panel's Chairman from 1988 to 1991.

Dr. Gagliardi received his education at the University of Naples Federico II founded in 1224. It is the oldest public and laic university in the world. There he earned a diploma in mathematics and physics in 1951. Thereafter, he remained at the university, where he received a Doctor of Engineering in electrical engineering in 1954.

At present, Dr. Gagliardi's interests and activities focus on consulting on a) intellectual property issues involved in software related endeavours and b) financial investments in the highly innovative world of the cloud & the smart phone.
