Dr. Fred Brenner Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Higher Education

For more than five decades, Dr. Brenner has been teaching biology and ecology at colleges and universities in the U.S.



    GROVE CITY, PA, March 21, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fred Brenner has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A biology professor, ecologist and consultant, Dr. Brenner has played an instrumental role in his industry since establishing his career in 1964. Today, he is a full professor at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, where he has demonstrated his expertise at the higher education level for the last 53 years. Previously, he came to prominence at the college as an assistant professor of biology from 1969 to 1970 and associate professor from 1970 to 1986. In addition, Dr. Brenner held noteworthy roles at the start of his career with Thiel College as an assistant professor of biology and as a teaching intern at Denison University. In recognition of his professional excellence, he was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World. Additionally, Dr. Brenner earned a lifetime achievement award from the Pennsylvania Academy of Science and a Yokley Faculty Service award from Beta Beta Beta.

To prepare for a career in biology, Dr. Brenner pursued and completed his education. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Thiel College in 1958 before attending Pennsylvania State University. There, he achieved a Master of Science in 1960 and a Ph.D. in 1964. Dr. Brenner has remained at the top of his field through his professional affiliations with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Ecological Society of America, the Pennsylvania Academy of Science, the National Association of Academies of Science and Beta Beta Beta. He is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and The Ohio Academy of Science. During his career, he served as president of five different scientific societies including the National Association of Academies of Science.

Along the way, Dr. Brenner has been a prominent figure in his local community. Today, he serves as treasurer of the Mercer County Conservation District. He has also been tremendously involved with the Mercer County Regional Planning Commission, the Shenango Conservancy and the French Creek Council BSA. As he looks ahead to the future, Dr. Brenner intends to continue in his work with Grove City College while taking on new civic projects in his community.
