Out of Dr. Kasten-Jolly's love of learning developed a seasoned career in research science. The mother of two graduated with a Ph.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1980 and has been a research scientist at The Wadsworth Center, owned and operated by the New York State Department of Health, since 2000. She has authored and co-authored 48 articles through her career, including "A physical/psychological and biological stress combine to enhance endoplasmic reticulum stress," "Metallothionein differentially affects the host response to Listeria infection both with and without an additional stress from cold-restraint," "Lead Modulation of Macrophages Causes Multiorgan Detrimental Health Effects," "The dietary supplement ephedrine induces-adrenergic mediated exacerbation of systemic lupus erythematosus in NZM391 mice," and "Human fetal hemoglobin synthesis and its NH2-terminal acetylation in a rabbit reticulocyte lysate translational system," and total citations of all articles is now over 700.

Outside of the lab, Dr. Kasten-Jolly is an active parishioner at St. John the Baptist Church. She's also been included in the 70th edition of Who's Who in America.
