In this capacity, he oversees 1,800 employees, a $200 million capital improvement project, and a $150 million general fund annual budget. A certified government financial manager, he acted as a financial director for the city of Owosso, Mich. at the start of his career. Subsequently, he held such roles as internal auditor for John Wesley College, corporate treasurer for Michigan Baptist Homes, and a variety of executive roles for the city of Cadillac, Mich., and the city of Macon, Ga. and Washington, D.C. Retirement Board, Suffolk, Va.
An alumnus of Ferris State University and Central Michigan University, Mr. Walker holds a Bachelor of Science, as well as an MBA. His professional affiliations include the Government Finance Officers Association, for which he is a fellow, and Georgia City and County Managers, the International City Managers Association for which he is a credentialed manager, and the Association of Country Government. Over the years, he has given back to his community through many institutions, including the Michigan Municipal Employees Retirement System and the City of Macon General Employers Retired Systems, for which he has been a board member since 2011. Notably, Mr. Walker has been recognized many times for his work in the field; he has been featured in seven editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, and four editions of Who's Who in American Politics.
