Raymond Erwin Honored for Excellence in Agriculture and Agribusiness Education

Raymond Erwin taught at Stillwater High School in Minnesota for three decades



    STILLWATER, MN, April 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Raymond Erwin has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A certified vocational agriculture and agribusiness teacher in the state of Minnesota, Raymond Erwin began his path toward an academic career as a Sears college scholar at North Dakota State University. He obtained a Bachelor of Science from the school in 1948 and spent three years working as a veterans' institutional on-farm instructor at Minot State College. Mr. Erwin then relocated to earn a second Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota. After graduating from the school in 1954, he began his tenure with Stillwater High School in Minnesota; he was a vocational agriculture instructor at the school for three decades.

While at Stillwater High School, Mr. Erwin earned a Master of Arts in 1971. He also worked with the FFA organization at the school, through which he helped plant approximately two million trees. From 1963 until 1966, Mr. Erwin was a freelance commercial photographer for the Baytown Township Supervisor in Washington County, Minn. From 1966 until 1967, he worked as an agriculture advisor for the Lam Dong Province in South Vietnam through the Agency for International Development.

Having served as a colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Erwin is a member of the Marine Corps Reserve Officers Association and the Sons of the American Revolution. His professional affiliations include the American Vocational Association, the Minnesota Vocational Agriculture Instructors Association, the Minnesota Education Association, and the National Education Association. Mr. Erwin has been inducted into a number of academic honor societies as well, including Phi Delta Kappa, Alpha Phi Gamma, Alpha Tau Alpha, Alpha Zeta, and Kappa Delta Pi.

Mr. Erwin, who has contributed a number of articles to professional journals over the years, is currently writing articles on desktop publishing. His many accomplishments were taking into consideration when he was chosen to be featured in the 62nd through 68th editions of Who's Who in America, the 8th edition of Who's Who in American Education, and the 26th through 29th editions of Who's Who in the World. He has appeared in multiple editions of Who's Who in the Midwest as well.
