About Jerry P. Peppers
Mr. Peppers is a Manhattan lawyer and is recently retired as a partner from Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw Pittman LLP, an international firm he joined directly out of law school in 1971. He practiced corporate and securities law and concentrated on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, having closed more than 200 transactions. During his career, he also served on the Firm's Management Committee and chaired the Associates Committee. He is the editor of the Firm's Outline of Mergers and Acquisitions in the United States last published in 2009, has authored a number of articles on corporate law and taught classes in mergers and acquisitions, securities and negotiation.
Over the years, Mr. Peppers has been an officer of and/or sat on the board of approximately 25 business and not-for-profit organizations, including the Ohio University Foundation, the Athena Fund, Ohio Seed Fund, Inc., Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club, Inc., Lincoln Highway Association, Inc., etc.
Mr. Peppers has a long-held interest in American roads and towns, rails and trails and the people in and along them. He is a life member and Director of Lincoln Highway Association, Inc., holds its Bernie Queneau Coast to Coast certificate and has appeared in two made for television documentaries featuring the Lincoln Highway. He is also a member of other highway organizations focusing on U.S. Routes 6 and 20 and the now decommissioned U.S. Route 66, National Road, Yellowstone Highway, Dixie Highway and Jefferson Highway as well as the Oregon-California Trail Association and the Union Pacific Historical Association. Since retirement in 2016 he has criss-crossed the United States traveling by car in America more than 40,000 miles and can often be found exploring some remote road, track or trail.
Mr. Peppers has studied the life of General George S. Patton, Jr. extensively and maintains a library containing more than 150 books, including all of the works in which Patton is the principal subject.
In recent years, Mr. Peppers has taken up yoga, has completed ten Baptiste Power Yoga Institute programs totaling almost 650 hours of instruction, including three week-long boot camps in the Arizona desert, and is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (RYT 200). He practices every day and has completed more than 1,100 in-studio classes, mostly at Cleveland Yoga, Lyons Den Power Yoga and Jivamukti but at approximately 70 other studios as well in the United States, Great Britain and Hong Kong.
Mr. Peppers has coached youth soccer and is a FIFA licensed coach. He is also an FCC licensed, Extra Class, radio amateur (W8JPP).
He is a native of Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated from John Marshall High School in January 1964. He attended Ohio University (BBA 1968) and Duke University (JD 1971). The Peppers family is a Duke family, with all six members holding Duke Diplomas.
Mr. Peppers is a 34 year resident of Scarsdale, NY along with his wife of 48 years, Sue, and is the father of four daughters, Amy, who resides in San Francisco, and Erica, Christina and Michele, who reside in Manhattan.
