He works in the area of lighting electronics for the company, which is a world leader in the field of lighting manufacturing. Over the course of his career, Dr. Franck has achieved five patents in his field; he now has 27 patents pending. Prior to working in his current capacity, he spent three years as a senior designer of electronic control gears driving halogen lamps for OSRAM in Italy. From 1988 to 1993, Dr. Franck was a research assistant for the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives at the Technical University, Munich, Germany.
A major factor behind Dr. Franck's professional success is his strong educational foundation. He is a graduate of the Technical University of Munich, from which he earned a bachelor's degree in electronics and electrical engineering in 1984 and a master's degree in electronics engineering in 1988. In 1995, Dr. Franck received a Ph.D. on resonant single-cell DC/DC converters. He remains current in his profession as a life member of IEEE.
Aside from his professional endeavors, Dr. Franck plays bassoon with several classical orchestras throughout Munich. He and his wife, Anna Maria, have three children.
