TAIPEI, TAIWAN, June 23, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sudipta Som has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As a postdoctoral fellow in chemical engineering at National Taiwan University, Dr. Som is noted for his research in the areas of physics, materials physics and condensed matter physics. His ultimate goal is to contribute to the field of solid state research. Dr. Som has been at National Taiwan University since 2014. Prior to that, he spent a year and a half as a postdoctoral fellow in physics at the University of the Free State in South Africa.
Dr. Som's strong educational foundation is a major factor behind his success in physics research. Born in India, he attended the University of Calcutta and graduated with first class honors with a Bachelor of Science in physics in 2008. He went on to study at the Indian School of Mines, from which he received a Master of Science in applied physics in 2010 and a Ph.D. in applied physics in 2014.
Dr. Som has received a number of academic honors, including a rural scholarship gold medal. He was proud to be a project fellow for the University Governing Council in New Delhi, India, and he has received six awards from the All India Science Teachers' Association. Dr. Som was honored to receive a prize from Jatiya Vigyan Parishad as well.
In order to remain current in his field, Dr. Som maintains life memberships with the Luminescence Society of India, the Society of Applied Physics and the Laser Society of India. In his spare time, he enjoys playing cricket, reading, and spending time with his wife, Somrita Dutta. Dr. Som aims for continued professional and personal accomplishments as he moves forward in his career.
