For the last 60 years, Mr. Halper has been a man of many talents, working as a lawyer, real estate developer, consultant, educator, writer, and real estate broker.

ROSLYN, NY, June 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Emanuel Barry Halper a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Halper celebrates many years' experience in his professional network. He has been noted for achievements in his field and his leadership qualities. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For the last 60 years, Mr. Halper has been a man of many talents, working as a lawyer, real estate developer, consultant, educator, writer, and real estate broker. He served for decades with the firm of Zissu, Halper & Martin and as a professor of real estate and special professor of law. Mr. Halper is now president of American Development and Consultant Corporation in Greenvale, New York, and also teaches law as an adjunct professor of the New York Law School.

Mr. Halper was born in the Bronx, in New York City. His father has served as an inspiration to him. When he was 10 years old, his father asked him what he was most interested in. After Mr. Halper replied that his most interesting subject was "history," his father suggested the legal profession as a viable pursuit.

Mr. Halper attended the City College of New York in 1950 and in his final semester was elected student body president. He pursued law at Columbia University, earning a JD in 1957. From 1953 through 1965, he was a professional square dance caller (known as Mountain Manny). As he explains, "I earned my living that way through 1965 when my daughter was born. My income from hotels, church and synagogue groups, neighborhood associations, and a cruise ship paid for law school, exceeded my income as a lawyer by far, and made it possible for us to pay our household bills."

He was introduced to lease negotiation soon after law school as house counsel for Howard Stores Corporation in Brooklyn, New York. He continued negotiating leases after he left Howard Stores in 1961. He was employed that year by Frederick Zissu. That job continued until 1965 when Mr. Zissu, Alvin C. Martin and Mr. Halper formed the law partnership named Zissu, Halper, and Martin. He remained with the firm until 1987, continuing in the role of off counsel until 1997.

Mr. Halper also served with the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963.

Mr. Halper became a partner of California Pacific Realty Company in 1970, and in 1987, he served as vice president of development for Chase Enterprises in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1989, he became president of both Texamerican Horizon Ventures as well as American Development and Consultation.

Mr. Halper married Ilona Rubinstein in 1961, and his son, Dan Reed Halper, works with him as a lawyer. His daughter, Eve Brook, is a professional environmental engineer.

Through the '70s, Mr. Halper served as an adjunct professor with New York University (NYU), and in the late '90s through 2006, he became a special professor of law at Hofstra University. In 2007 and 2008, he served as Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Hofstra University.

Mr. Halper was a contributing editor to NYU's Real Estate Review, and chaired the editorial policy committee for the Hofstra University Law School's International Property Investment Journal in the '80s. Between 1982 and 1992, he served as a columnist for the New York Law Journal.

Approximately 100 of his articles have appeared in academic, real estate and legal publications.
Mr. Halper has served in many leadership positions with the American Bar Association, which presented him with the 1977 Gavel Award, the 2006 Partnership Award, and the 2005 Spirit of Excellence Award. He was name a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2007. He is also the recipient of the 1978 Distinguished Teaching Award from NYU and the 1987 Dean's Award from Hofstra University Law School. Mr. Halper was named 2008 Friend of the Bar by the Network of Bar Leaders and was honored by a 2009 Proclamation by the New York City Council. Mr. Halper was affiliated with the World Association of Lawyers, the International Institute for Real Estate Studies, the American Bar Foundation, and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. For years of dedication to the practice of real estate law and legal education, Mr. Halper was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East, and three volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business from 2006 to 2010.
