Hugo Gunther Walter Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

From Romanticism to Victorian poetry, American Literature to European drama, Dr. Walter has devoted 37 years of his life to the study of the humanities. He currently serves as a professor at Berkeley College in Woodland Park, New Jersey, teaching in the school of liberal arts. Some of his specialties include European literature, British literature, poetry, and interdisciplinary humanities. Dr. Walter is also a published poet, producing many collections like his latest, "A Purple-Golden Renascence of Eden-Exalting Rainbows." His poetry has been compared to impressionist paintings in its richness of imagery, and the style graces his book covers frequently.

Dr. Walter entered academia by earning a BA from Princeton University, followed by an MA in Literature from Yale University in 1983, an MPhil in Literature from Yale in 1984, and a PhD in Literature from Yale in 1985. In 1988, he published his first collection of poetry, "The Fragile Edge," and would continue to produce a prolific body of work over the years. Dr. Walter served as an adjunct instructor for Yale University and Old Dominion University through 1989, moving on when he earned an M.A. in humanities from Old Dominion University. Between 1989 and 1999, he served as an assistant professor for Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania, Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, and Kettering University in Flint, Michigan. In 1996, he earned a second PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Drew University and in 1999 became a Professor of English and Humanities at Berkeley College in White Plains, New York and Woodland Park, New Jersey.

In 2006, Dr. Walter was awarded the Online Faculty of the Year Award by Berkeley College. He has also served as a visiting professor for Rhodes College and the University of Missouri. His professional monographs include "Space and Time on the Magic Mountain: Studies in 19th and 20th Century European Literature" and "Sanctuaries in Washington Irving's The Sketchbook." Dr. Walter is a member of the Modern Language Association, the Jane Austen Society of North America, the Thomas Hardy Association, the Academy of American Poets, and the International Society of Poets.

For his academic achievements and contributions to the humanities, Dr. Walter was included in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and two volumes of Who's Who in American Education. His poetry can also be found in such collections as "Amaranth-Sage Epiphanies of Dusk-Weaving Paradise" and "Dusk-Gloaming Mirrors and Castle-Winding Dreams."
