Linda Sweigart Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Nursing Education

Ms. Sweigart has been making a difference in the health and lives of patients for more than four decades



Ms. Sweigart is a registered nurse, nursing educator and certified nurse practitioner.

    NEW CASTLE, IN, July 27, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Linda Sweigart has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A registered nurse, nursing educator and certified nurse practitioner, Ms. Sweigart has been making a difference in the health and lives of patients and students for more than four decades. Noteworthy roles she has held include staff charge nurse in the ICU at Henry County Hospital, head nurse in the neonatal ICU at Home Hospital, and assistant director of the nursing department for Reid Memorial Hospital. Ms. Sweigart spent 14 years working as women's and family health educator, as well as a nurse liaison at the breast center of Ball Member Hospital. Since 2004, she has been an instructor at the School of Nursing of Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

Ms. Sweigart attributes her success to her passion for helping others. In recognition of professional excellence, she was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Nursing and Who's Who of American Women.

Related to her work with the use of virtual learning environments in nursing education, she was selected as a 2011 Health Information Technology Scholar (HITS) program which was a HRSA Faculty Development Initiative, integrating technology into nursing education & practice. She has authored several articles in refereed journals and presented at numerous national and international conferences on her work in virtual world education. She is a member of NLN, Sigma Theta Tau, the Oncology Nurses Society, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Coalition of Advanced Nurse Practitioners, the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) and Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Ms. Sweigart is also involved with career-related civic projects. She has been a board member of Safe Sitter International, member of the Prevent Child Abuse Program, and volunteer trainer for the American Cancer Society. She was honored as 2000 Indiana Section Award of Excellence in Education, Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).

Ms. Sweigart earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with highest distinction, in 1976 from Indiana University. Her graduate studies were also at IU School of Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing in 1986. Later, she completed a postgraduate diploma as nurse practitioner from Ball State University.
