When he first started in the field, he joined the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked as the attorney to the acting deputy chief of the general crimes section. Over the years, Mr. Burnett worked in a number of legal roles for the D.C. Department Metropolitan Police, the U.S. District Court, the U.S. Civil Service Commission, and the Superior Court of DC, where he retired as a senior judge in 2013.

A graduate of Howard University, New York University, and the Federal Executive Institute, Mr. Burnett holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. In order to remain active among his professional circles, he affiliates himself with such associations as the Washington Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, the National Bar Association and the American Bar Association, through which he's earned multiple awards. Throughout his career, he has contributed his extensive knowledge to the New York University Law Review and has published many legal articles.

A dedicated and respected figure in his vocation, he has been recognized many times for his revered work in the field of law. In addition to earning the Spirit of Excellence Award and the Sustained Superior Performance Award, Mr. Burnett has been featured in many editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who of American Law.
