VAN NUYS, CA, August 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name William Milton Timmons a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Timmons celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Timmons is a veteran of the Korean War, an Honorary Texas Ranger, an educator of 57 years, a writer and a filmmaker, as well as a vocal humanist and atheist. He is currently retired from teaching, but still produces programs and is a prolific writer. His latest historical novel, "The Scroll Seekers: Who Created the New Testament?" was published by AuthorHouse in 2016, and showcases the research Dr. Timmons conducted on the author Irenaeus, the Roman church, and the collected scrolls that would become the New Testament.

Dr. Timmons' remarkably full life began as a child actor at the age of 12 touring with a musical version of "Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn" and on the stage of the Houston Junior Theater's "Juvenile Jubilee." He became a radio announcer for KMCO in Conroe, Texas, while still in high school, which inspired him to become involved in physically building the first television studio for the University of Houston, which started his long production and teaching career in broadcast media. He was the first disc jockey and the announcer when the station, KUHT-TV at Houston, went on-air showing educational programs.

In 1952, Dr. Timmons joined the U.S. Naval Reserve and served through the last days of the Korean War. He went on active duty halfway through a program at U.S. Naval Electronics School, and the experience also qualified him for many later opportunities, chief among them a teaching position in audio engineering. Dr. Timmons completed a bachelor's degree at the University of Houston in 1958, and went on to teach at UCLA toward earning a Master of Arts in 1961.

He served as an operations assistant at CBS-TV in Hollywood, but in 1963, he returned to academia as a professor of speech and drama at Sam Houston State University in Texas. In 1970, he became chair of the cinema department at Los Angeles Valley College, where he stayed until his retirement in 1992.

Dr. Timmons had saved up the money from his position at Sam Houston State to earn a PhD in 1975 at the University of Southern California.

Over the course of a varied career, Dr. Timmons is proud of many things, including writing seven books. They range from academic works like "Everything About the Bible That you Never Had Time to Look Up" in 2003 and "Orientation to Cinema" in 1986, to philosophical novels such as "Regarding an Angel's Flight" in 2004. His later work touches on political dystopia, such as the novel "A Tale of Post America," published in 2008. In 1977, Dr. Timmons compiled 50 years of scientific humanism into an explanatory volume, "Lucifer's Handbook: A Simplified Critique of Popular Religion." In 1982, he was one of the founders of Atheists United, and has since produced over 200 television programs for it including the "Atheists United Program" on public access television. Atheists United received a $120,000 grant from the James Hervey Johnson Charitable Educational Trust, which resulted in three half-hour programs per month. Dr. Timmons has also shot a feature film based on the Henrik Ibsen Play, "Ghosts," as well as numerous other film projects.

Dr. Timmons is affiliated with the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts Alumni Association, the Red Masque Players, the Center for Inquiry, the Humanist Association of LA, Mensa, Alpha Epsilon Rho, and Delta Kappa Alpha. In 1946, he was named honorary Texas Ranger by the State of Texas in the city of Austin, and in 1957 he was named University of Houston Scholar.

For his varied achievements in cinema and education, Dr. Timmons was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the West, the 1992 to 1993 volume of Who's Who in American Education, and the 1998 to 1999 first edition of Who's Who in Media and Communication. He loves reading, writing, viewing movies, and was once featured in American Cinematograper magazine.
