In 1993, Dr. Zirvi obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a concentration in Electrical Engineering, from Princeton University. He graduated summa cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Honor Society. In 2000, he obtained a medical degree and PhD from Cornell University Medical College. During his graduate studies, he helped design the original Zipcode DNA sequences that were used to patent and commercialize the Universal Zipcode DNA Array, helping to revolutionize DNA analysis and sequencing. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania and was certified by the American Board of Dermatology. He has been a practicing dermatologist at the Summit Medical Group since 2004.
Dr. Zirvi also serves as an adjunct clinical instructor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He has been an investigator for research projects on diagnostics for DNA cancer detection, and he is the coauthor of articles published in "Archives in Dermatology," a prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journal. He is also an associate at the Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Zirvi is the recipient of MDx Medical's 2011 Patients' Choice Award for his outstanding patient care, bedside manner, follow-up care, appointment availability, and positive office environment. He has been featured in Castle Connolly's listings for America's Top Doctors, Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area, Top Doctors for Berkeley Heights, and Top Doctors for Women's Health. These listings were reprinted in New York Magazine, Inside Jersey, and the US News and World Report. He was also commended with the Top Doctor for Cancer Care Award in 2016 and America's Most Honored Professionals (1%) Award in 2017. Dr. Zirvi has been married to his wife, Shazia, since 2000. They have four children together: Usman, Aleena, Saif, and Armaan. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball. He also contributes to a number of charitable organizations, including AmFar and the Summit Medical Group Foundation.
