After studying medicine in an undergraduate capacity at the Chungnam National University School of Medicine, Dr. Kang went on to receive a medical degree from the same in 1979. This accomplishment was followed by a Doctorate in Medical Science from Chungnam National University in 1981. Considerably skilled in the field of medical education, he served as his alma mater's dean from 1994 to 1996, and has worked there since 1982. He was also the dean of the graduate school of public health and biotech in Daejeon from 1995 to 1996.
Dr. Kang's career background is punctuated with excellence and drive. From 2005 to 2007, he was an auditor for the Korea Society of Medical Education, he has been the president of the Korean Society of Toxic Pathology and the Korean Society of Pathologists. Interested in ongoing discovery and intellectual growth, much of Dr. Kang's research has involved experimental studies on hepatocarcinogenesis and liver cirrhosis.
In order to remain active and engaged in his professional circles, Dr. Kang belongs to the Korean Medical Association, the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Korean Society of Medical Education and numerous other notable societies. His achievements earned him a place in Who's Who in Asia in 2012, along with multiple editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World. He has garnered several other awards and recognitions, including the HanGok Award of Medical Education from the Korean Medical Education Association and the Outstanding Medical Paper from the Korean Thyroid Association. Dr. Kang served as a major in the Korean military from 1979 to 1982.
