    SULLIVANS ISLAND, SC, August 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Daniel W. Nixon has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Since 2015, Dr. Nixon has been drawing on his extensive background to act as an expert consultant on the topics of research and survivorship for both the Cancer Treatment Centers of America and the Southeastern Regional Medical Center. In 2016, he assumed the role of adjunct clinical professor of medicine at Morehouse Medical School, and earlier in his career, he was affiliated with the Medical College of Georgia as an assistant professor of medicine. For 25 years, Dr. Nixon held a number of medical and educational positions for Emory University, the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society, and the Medical University of South Carolina. More recently, he was the president of the Institute for Cancer Prevention and a research professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University.

An alumnus of the Medical College of Georgia and the University of Georgia, Dr. Nixon holds a Bachelor of Science, as well as an MD. He became a diplomate through the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Oncology. Throughout the course of his lengthy career, he has achieved much, including lauded research in numerous areas of medicine, including cancer prevention and nutrition, chemoprevention and cancer metabolism, and new cancer drug development. Every day, he endeavors to bring new and life-changing research into the forefront of his field. He has contributed to more than 100 articles in medical journals. His most recent publication was "The Inverse Relationship Between Cancer and Alzheimer's Disease: A Possible Mechanism," which was published just this year in Current Alzheimer Research.
