Kristen Frederiksen Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Frederiksen has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the neuroscience industry

Mr. Frederiksen has served as principal scientist of the international pharmaceutical company H. Lundbeck, commonly known as Lundbeck, since 1991.

DYSSEGARD, DENMARK, August 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Kristen Frederiksen a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Frederiksen celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Frederiksen has served as principal scientist of the international pharmaceutical company H. Lundbeck, commonly known as Lundbeck, since 1991. His research is in developing drugs for the treatment of central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer's, depression, schizophrenia, and Parkinson's disease. Mr. Frederiksen's research suggests enormous potential in regenerating brain damage through the use of stem cells, which has been a difficult and persistent conundrum for the medical community.

Born in Vroue, Denmark in 1951 to Egon and Karen Frederiksen, Mr. Frederiksen served as an artillery sergeant from 1970 to 1972 in the Danish town of Skive before delving into neuroscience. He was invited as a visiting scientist to Cold Spring Harbour Laboratories in 1983, and in 1984, he earned a MSc from the University of Copenhagen. Later that year, he joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston as a research scientist, where he worked for three years. In 1987, Mr. Frederiksen returned to Denmark as a research scientist at Novo-Nordisk in Copenhagen, where he conducted work with the pharmaceutical firm until 1991. He was welcomed in that year by Lundbeck, with offices all over the world and headquarters in Copenhagen.

In 2016, Mr. Frederiksen was the lead author in a paper on biochemical pharmacology, working with other scientists at Lundbeck. His major achievements include research in brain development and diseases, notably the immortalization of neuronal stem cells. Mr. Frederiksen discovered these stem cells could be induced to develop into various cell types, and that neuronal stem cells exist as pluripotent precursor cells in the central nervous system. The implication of these finds combined with Lundbeck's library of psychiatric and neurological drugs show incredible potential breakthroughs in neuroscience.

Mr. Frederiksen joins his peers in the pursuit of pharmacology in the Biophysical Society, the Danish Neuroscience Society, and the Society of Neuroscience. For his groundbreaking research, he was selected for inclusion in three volumes of Who's Who in the World from 2014 to 2016, as well as the 2016 to 2017 volume of Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Mr. Frederiksen married Marianne Thorsen in 2006, and they have two children, Amalie and William.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Frederiksen has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
