Nancy Schneider Mueller, PhD, Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    CHAPEL HILL, NC, August 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Nancy Schneider Mueller a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Mueller celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A retired professor of biology who spent the last 30 years of her career teaching at North Carolina Central University, Dr. Mueller first stepped onto their campus as a visiting professor of biology in 1971. A few years later, she was awarded the opportunity to teach as an associate professor for six years before becoming a full professor in 1979. Retiring from academia in 1993, she has found pride and pleasure in working with not only some brilliant colleagues, but also some amazing students.

Dr. Mueller's expertise includes molting and the effects that sex hormones have on feather coloration in birds. Some of her favorite work was the time she spent working with insects and molting as embryos. She was also awarded the opportunity to volunteer her time in the banding program at the Cedar Grove Ornithological Research Station in Wisconsin. Since retirement she has made many trips to study birds around the world.

Prior to working at North Carolina Central University, Dr. Mueller taught as an instructor at the University of Wisconsin in 1966. She then taught as an assistant professor of poultry science and zoology at NC State University from 1968 to 1971. In 1975, she served as a visiting scientist at the University of Vienna, Austria.

A member of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters, the North Carolina Academy of Science, and Sigma Xi, Dr. Mueller is married to Helmut Charles Mueller since 1959 and has one child. She also has a twin sister who resides in France, who is also a biologist.

Dr. Mueller has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The College of Wooster, a Master of Science in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin, and a PhD in Zoology, also from the University of Wisconsin. Throughout the course of her career, her research has resulted in many articles and abstracts in professional journals. She has been included in several editions of Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of American Women.
