Demarest Lindsay Campbell Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Campbell has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of art, interior design, and writing

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Demarest Lindsay Campbell a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Ms. Campbell celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Retired from a career in fine art and interior design to write full-time, Ms. Campbell was well-known in her community as the Owner of Demarest Campbell Art and Interiors, designing interiors, doing historic renovations, and creating mural art for many years. Established in 1975, she then took on the task of also working as a Chargeman Scenic Artist for the American Conservatory Theatre in 1976, doing work for the theatre until 2011. Today, as she enters into a new career in writing, she is eager to show off to the world the power of her words.

As a child, Ms. Campbell, who was raised on firsthand stories of the British Raj by a family with generations of history in India, combined her experiences with her voracious reading of classic literature to write her very first novel. "Baby Snakes," which was published by Lulu in 2015, is her debut novel set in turn-of-the-century India.

Describing her book as a pastiche of Victorian novels written in the style of John Fowles, Jose Saramago, and Evelyn Waugh, and set during the British Raj in Calcutta between 1880 and 1900, Ms. Campbell explains that "Baby Snakes" tells the story of clandestine relationships, opium, and treason, all in the midst of a turbulent Indian environment. Campbell hopes the 316-page book will allow readers to learn more about British-occupied India, but most of all, find an entertaining story within her pages.

Ms. Campbell is an avid reader of classic literature, period pieces, and historical nonfiction. She is a member of the National Organization of Women, the Asian Art Museum Society of San Francisco, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, the Art Directors Guild and Scenic, Title, and Graphic Artists (Local 800), the Sherlock Holmes Society of London, the National Trust for Historic Preservation (Great B and USA Chapter), and several others. She is also a charter member of the Shavian Malthus Society and a millennium member of the Humane Society of the US.

Married to Dale Gordon Haugo since 1978, Ms. Campbell has painted and sculpted more than 300 productions for Broadway, international opera, and motion picture. Featured in dozens of editions of Who's Who, they include Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
