He is noted for assisting the educational community in a wide range of capacities, particularly in the areas of technology and special education. His many educational roles include serving as a computer technology teacher's assistant and assistant teacher for severely challenged boys and girls with Boston Public Schools, teacher's assistant for children with special needs for the Richard J. Murphy Elementary School, and computer technology teacher's assistant with P.J. Kennedy School. In an effort to stay abreast of recent developments in the field of technology education, Mr. Daukantas maintains involvement with the International Society of Technology in Education.

Prior to pursuing a career in education, Mr. Daukantas attended the University of Massachusetts, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1976. He went on to complete a Master of Arts in agency counseling through the University of Northern Colorado in 1982, Master of Education in psychological studies through Cambridge College in 2000 and Master of Education in instructional technology through Lesley University in 2013. Since entering the field of educational technology, Mr. Daukantas has completed numerous certifications, including the Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification, which he received through Harvard University Extension School in 2008. He completed additional training in computer programming and operations through the Control Data Institute.

A former medical corpsman with the U.S. Army, Mr. Daukantas was named the recipient of the Cold War Recognition Certificate in 1999. He previously served with the U.S. National Guard between 1975 and 1982. Passionate about community improvement, Mr. Daukantas maintains involvement with the Southern Poverty Law Program, National Campaign for Tolerance, The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Amnesty International. He is also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Harvard Entrepreneurs Alumni, Harvard Veterans Alumni, Harvard Humanist Alumni, Harvard Extension Alumni and Harvard Alumni Association.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Daukantas has contributed numerous articles to professional journals pertaining to his areas of expertise. In addition, he is credited with authoring a poetry book entitled, "A Vision for My Son," which was published in 2007.
