Kamewada Kunihiko, PhD, Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Kunihiko has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the agricultural research industry

Widely regarded for his knowledge in the areas of soil science and plant nutrition, Dr. Kunihiko serves as the president for the Tochigi prefectural sustainable agriculture extension center.

UTSUNOMIYA, JAPAN, September 25, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Kamewada Kunihiko, PhD, a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Kunihiko celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Widely regarded for his knowledge in the areas of soil science and plant nutrition, Dr. Kunihiko serves as the president for the Tochigi prefectural sustainable agriculture extension center. He began conducting agricultural experiments upon graduating from Utsunomiya University with a Bachelor of Agriculture in 1981. From there, Dr. Kunihiko joined the research staff of the Tochigi prefectural agricultural research station as a member of the soil and fertilizer faculty. He went on to accept a position as an associate professor with the Tochigi prefectural agricultural college.
During this time, Dr. Kunihiko completed a PhD of Agriculture at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. For more than a decade, he served as the chief of laboratory as part of the agricultural environment technology faculty with the Tochigi prefectural agricultural experiment station. Most recently, Dr. Kunihiko was recognized as a professor of the agricultural college, as well as a researching managing director with the agricultural experiment station, before accepting the role of center president in 2016.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Kunihiko has been actively involved with a wide range of instrumental studies in his areas of expertise, including the development of soil conservation technology for Andosol. Since the 1970s, changes were observed in cultivated soil in Japan as a consequence of changes in soil management. From 1979 to 1993, 550 fields were studied to reveal the actuality and trend of changes. Dr. Kunihiko was also involved in chemical thermodynamic analysis for Andosol, which used the Four Plane Model to analyze the electrostatic charge of synthetic oxides within soil samples of Andosols. To better understand the results of these studies, a new equation was derived to replace the existing Gouy-Chapman equation. In an effort to understand nutrition dynamics and plant growth from the soil solution ionic component, Dr. Kunihiko and his colleagues monitored nutrition concentration in soil solution from the surface to a meter in depth for three years. These findings revealed the environmental capacity for nitrogen in vegetable fields to satisfy the concentration of environmental water.

Dr. Kunihiko was instrumental in the development of a prediction equation to determine the risk forecasting for cadmium uptake by crops. The new equation was found to provide a high goodness-of-fit between the predicted and measured values over a concentration range of more than five-orders of magnitude. Another important study conducted by Dr. Kunihiko involved the depuration capacity of a paddy field. He was able to grasp the influence of paddy fields on the quality of agricultural water by studying the quality of water running into paddy fields and how it changed over a period of time in three watersheds.

Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Kunihiko has been continually recognized for his contributions to the agricultural research industry. He has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in the World. In addition, he was selected as the recipient of an award from the Japanese Society of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition in 2010, as well as an encouragement prize in 1990. He was commended by the prefectural governor in 1995 in recognition of his commitment to soil conservation technology. Dr. Kunihiko maintains active involvement with the Japanese Society of Soil and Plant Nutrition, where he was a member of the editorial board between 1997 and 1999, as well as a member of their board of directors between 2006 and 2009. He is also actively involved with the Japanese Society of Pedology.

Outside of his outstanding agricultural career, Dr. Kunihiko is also an accomplished musician. He is best known for performing jazz music with an alto saxophone. Since 2010, Dr. Kunihiko has released three CDs, entitled "Soul Eyes," "A Time For Love," and "The Summer Knows."

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Kamewada Kunihiko, PhD, has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
