Charles Ira Abramson Celebrates Over 30 Years of Experience in Comparative Psychology

Dr. Abramson was named to the 1st edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering



    STILLWATER, OK, September 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charles I. Abramson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 30 years of educational experience behind him, Dr. Abramson started in the field as a research investigator for the State University of New York (SUNY). After two years with SUNY Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn, he became a research assistant professor in biochemistry there and has served the past 24 years with Oklahoma State University. Notably, he served as a visiting scientist at the Russian Academy of Science in 1990.

A graduate of the prestigious Boston University, Dr. Abramson holds a Bachelor of Arts and a PhD in Psychology. His professional affiliations have included the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Association, and the New York Academy of Sciences. During the course of his lengthy career, he has contributed his knowledge to a number of creative works, including "Invertebrate Learning: A Laboratory Manual," as well as more than 200 articles, book chapters, abstracts, and 17 books. He was awarded a National Book Award and a 2003 Robert S. Daniel Teaching Excellence Award from the American Psychological Association, as well as several awards from international universities for a variety of roles. In 2014 he was presented the Lawrence L. Boger Endowed Professorship with the School of International Studies at Oklahoma State University, after accruing many teaching awards from the university over the years. Dr. Abramson has also lent his knowledge to the Journal of Mind and Behavior as an assistant editor, and the International Journal of Comparative Psychology as a consultant. He is an elected fellow of the Psychonomic Society, as well as a member of the honor societies Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, and Phi Beta Delta.

Throughout the years, Dr. Abramson has helped to develop several techniques that measure the learning capabilities of ants, bees, crabs, and worms. Beyond his status as a long-standing and versatile figure in his field, he has been recognized many times for his professional endeavors, including a feature in the inaugural edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and with the Colombian Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences. Looking ahead, Dr. Abramson intends to experience the continued success of his research.
