Dr. Song is a certified ophthalmology specialist and an associate professor with the Ajou University School of Medicine in Suwon. He has been a contributing author to numerous scientific papers, including the textbook "Retinal Pharmacotherapeutics," and was one of the lead scientists in a 2016 paper on sutureless vitrectomy regarding glaucoma patients. Dr. Song has also served as a consultant with the Allergen Advisory Board in Seoul since 2015.

A native to the capital city of Republic of Korea, Dr. Song was born to Kwang Yong Song and Bong Ja Park. He earned a medical doctorate from Yonsei University in 1999, and was soon licensed to practice by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in the Republic of Korea. From 2004 to 2005, he served with the 25th Infantry Division of the Korean Army in Yangju, in the province of Gyeonggi, and dedicated two more years with the Armed Forces Nonsan Hospital in the province of Chungcheongnam. Dr. Song took his practical expertise back to his alma mater as a research fellow at the Yonsei University College of Medicine, and became a clinical assistant professor one year later. In 2009, he went on to Ajou University School of Medicine, and was appointed assistant professor in one year. In 2015, Dr. Song received the title of associate professor at Ajou, concurrently accepting a consultancy with the Allergen Advisory Board.

Dr. Song has served as an editorial board member of both the Korean Uveitis Society and the Korean Retina Society. He is a member of the Korean Society of Clinical Electrophysiology and Vision, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. For continued excellence in the field of eye health, he was selected for inclusion in the 2016 volume of Who's Who in the World. Dr. Song is married to Sun Ha Park, and has two children, Yun Ha and Chan Young.
