Dr. Park, a professor for the school of mechanical and automotive engineering at the University of Ulsan since 1993, spent 13 years in the field before moving into higher education. A design engineer for Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in 1979 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, he then worked as a researcher for the Korea Institute of Science and Technology in Seoul and for the Institute of Fertigungstechnik Und Werkzeugmaschinen in Hannover, Germany. Since becoming an instructor, he has been able to share his knowledge with his students within a department that continues to excel. Founded 40 years ago, the University of Ulsan has quickly become a very competitive and successful school that has been paving the way for the future of engineering, and Dr. Park is so proud to be a part of its ongoing legacy.
Active in many roles besides teaching, Dr. Park is a committee member for numerous organizations, including IMT Geyeonggi Institute of Science and Technology. He's also on a long-term development project of industrial technology for MKE, on a research project and a program committee member of IT for the Ministry of Knowledge of Economy of Korea, and on the human resource development committee for the Korean Machine Tool Manufacturers Associate, to name just a few. He is also affiliated with numerous organizations where he has been a major influence by serving in various roles, including the Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the Korean Society for Precision Engineering.
A certified mechanical safety engineer and general mechanic since 1978, Dr. Park has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Han Yang University, a Diploma Ingenient in Engineering from RWTH Aachen, and a Doctor Ingenient from the University of Hannover. He holds several patents, including one for a rolling, isolated crane and vessel with the cane, one for a learning compensation method for a door frame and its method, and one for a robotic programming method and system using AR technology, as well as several others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Park is the recipient of a Bronze and Gold Prize by the University of Ulsan, a Silver Prize by the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Contest, also at the University of Ulsan, a Fourth Prize by SOFTEXPO, and, most recently, an IBC Olymplar Advanced Award, in 2012. Dr. Park has also been included in several editions of Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Asia, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Prior to completing his schooling, Dr. Park served in the military as a sergeant in the Infantry Army, Republic of Korea, from 1974 to 1976. Married since 1981 to Young Sook Moon, he has two children.
