With more than five decades of experience to his name, Dr. Keramidas is a renowned pediatric surgeon whose achievements include the use of experimental animals for clinical applications in pediatric surgery. He was invited as a research fellow by the University of Southern California and the Los Angeles County Hospital. He was notably appointed chief of pediatric surgery with the Aghia Sophia Children's Hospital in Athens, Greece in 1985. After serving with Greek hospitals for many years as a pediatric surgeon and professor of pediatric surgery, Dr. Keramidas stepped into a consultation role with the MITERA Maternity and Children's Hospital in Athens.

Dr. Keramidas was born to Constantine Keramidas and Alice Nanopoulos on May 28th, 1935 in Athens, Attica, Greece. He attended Athens University Medical School and received a MD in 1960, and continued on to a PhD with honors at the university in 1967. Between those accomplishments, Mr. Keramidas served as a first lieutenant of the Greek Medical Corps between 1961 and 1962. Dr. Keramidas began his career as an associate pediatrics surgeon at Aglaia Kyriakou Children's Hospital in Athens, Greece. In 1985, he was promoted to chief surgeon at Aghia Sophia Children's Hospital before becoming a professor of pediatrics surgery at the University of Patras in 1998. During this time, Dr. Keramidas also took the position of visiting pediatrics surgeon at Medecins du Monde in Cyprus. In 2003, Dr. Keramidas served as a Consultant for Pediatric Surgeons at Mitera Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital in Athens. To this day, he still works to help pediatric surgeons and patients.

Throughout his medical career Dr. Keramidas has regularly contributed research work with clinical results to international medical journals. He also contributed chapters related to his specialization to surgical books. Dr. Keramidas was honored with the position of president of the Mediterranean Association of Pediatric Surgeons, the Hellenic Surgical Society and the Greek Association of Pediatric Surgeons. Over the years, he has been able to offer his expertise to a number of medical publications such as the European Journal of Pediatric Surgery, for which he has been associate editor for several years. He was the referee for the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and editor-in-chief of the Hellenic Journal of Surgery.In his spare time, Dr. Keramidas enjoys swimming or playing chess while he maintains a special interest in history and physics. He is married to the pathologist Dimitra Anagnostou, a noted haematopathologist, and has one child.

Dr. Keramidas has appeared in various Marquis Who's Who publications, and has been featured in the 6th, 7th, and 8th editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, as well as the 8th through 12th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering. He also has been published in the 23rd through 31st editions of Who's Who in the World.
