Retired from academia after 25 amazing years, Dr. Hebert taught in various capacities at Auburn University, as an associate and professor of economics, program developer, and head of the department of economics. Recently becoming a Benjamin & Roberta Russell Foundation professor emeritus of entrepreneurial studies at the university, he has since formed his own consulting business. As owner and president of RFH Consulting, Inc., Dr. Hebert offers a wealth of expertise to clients in forensic economics.

During his university career Dr. Hebert taught various undergraduate courses, including Principles of Economics, History of Economic Theory, History of Science, Managerial Economics, Microeconomic Theory, Money and Banking, and Regional Economic Development. He also taught two graduate level courses: Managerial Economics and History of Economic Theory. He also kept busy by organizing various conferences, both at Auburn University and other colleges, such as the University of Maryland and Tuskegee University. He has also hosted many lectures and seminars on various topics in his field of expertise between the years of 1972 and 2013.

Prior to teaching at Auburn University, Dr. Hebert was an instructor of economics and dissertation-year fellow at Louisiana State University as well as an assistant professor of economics at Clemson University in South Carolina until 1974. In 1995, he was a Fulbright senior research scholar in Paris, France. He also spent time as a visiting professor at the Universite de Paris, the University of Louisiana, and the French-American Center for International Management (Institut d'Administration des Entreprises de Caen) in Normandy, France.

Dr. Hebert served on the Auburn Chamber of Commerce board of directors from 1984 to 1987 and as president of the History of Economics Society from 1991 to 1992. He is still active as a member of the National Association of Forensic Economists, the National Association of Scholars, the Fulbright Alumni Association, and several scholastic honorary fraternities.

Recognized world-wide for his writings, Dr. Hebert co-authored five books: "A History of Economic Theory and Method," "The Entrepreneur: Mainstream Views and Radical Critiques," "Sacred Trust: The Medieval Church as an Economic Firm," "Secret Origins of Modern Microeconomics: Dupuit and the Engineers," and "The Marketplace of Christianity." He also contributed chapters to 11 books, as well as various reference works and dozens of articles to professional journals spanning over 40 years. He has written more than 30 book reviews, served in various advisory roles for organizations and journals, and refereed for more than 20 peer-reviewed academic journals across the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Portugal, France, Brazil, and Switzerland.

Dr. Hebert holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Economics and a PhD in Economics, all awarded by Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge between 1965 to 1970. Awarded with a Travel Grant by the American Council of Learned Societies in 1977, Dr. Hebert earned a Resident Research Fellowship from the Institute for Humane Studies in 1979 as well as Travel Grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1985. A recipient of the J. William Fulbright International Research Award in 1995, Dr. Hebert won an Excellence in Outreach Award in 1997 by Auburn University for programs encouraging minority entrepreneurship.

Dr. Hebert has also been named to Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. Married for nearly 52 years to Diane Elizabeth Dupont, with whom he has had two children, Dr. Hebert today loves to write, read, and listen to music; formerly he enjoyed playing tennis, and craft carpentry work.
