David Chee Wong Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

For 31 years, Dr. Wong has served as a radiologist and PET/Nuclear Medicine Specialist in Australia, producing medical examinations, lecturing, and offering his services as an expert witness for the authorities. He is a respected member of numerous professional societies, and is currently retained as a radiologist and director of PET and nuclear medicine at the Wesley Hospital and as an Associate Professor with the Centre of Advanced Imaging, University of Queensland, in Brisbane, Australia. He has practiced at the Wesley Hospital since 1999, and was instrumental in the performance of the first Ga68 PSMA diagnostic imaging in men with prostate cancer in Australia on July 16, 2014, as well as the first Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy in men with metastatic prostate cancer in the state of Queensland on August 10, 2017

Born in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia to Shu Yan Wong and Tuck Choy Ho, Dr. Wong is part of a large family, with five other siblings. He is now an Australian citizen. He always wanted to enter the medical field, and attended the University of Queensland in Brisbane to earn an MBBS in 1985, the equivalent of an American medical doctorate. In accordance with the Queensland government clinical career structure, he served an internship with the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, and became a junior house officer after one year. In 1988, he became surgical principal house officer with Rockhampton Base Hospital, and went on the next year to the same post at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital. In 1989, he served as cardiothoracic principal house officer with Prince Charles Hospital. Dr. Wong went on to Sunnybank Private Hospital as in-house medical officer for one year before becoming principal house officer of radiology at Townsville General Hospital. He completed the accredited course of study to become a radiology registrar in 1992, returning to the radiology department at Princess Alexandra.

Dr. Wong served Princess Alexandra for five years, moving on to nuclear medicine at St. Vincent's Hospital followed by Prince of Wales Hospital, both in Sydney. He did his PET training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute in Melbourne and was honored with a 1997 Royal Australian and New Zealand College Radiologist (RANZCR) Fellowship. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Physicians of Nuclear Medicine (ANZAPNM) in 1998. Dr. Wong completed a Cardiovascular MRI fellowship with the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Laboratories at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO in 2003 and attained his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Central Queensland University in 2007. In 2012, he became a fellow of the Australasian Association of Nuclear Medicine Specialists He was also a member of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. In 1999, Dr. Wong was welcomed by Wesley Hospital back in Brisbane, where he was part of the clinical management team of the radiology department from 2005 to 2007.

Dr. Wong has performed a number of services for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, including radiodiagnosis exam and acting as an expert witness. He has also served with the Southernex Imaging Group as part of the Clinical Management Committee and Board of Directors, the National Association of Testing Authorities, and The Wesley Research Centre. He is a clinical advisor with the Office of the Health Ombudsman in Queensland.

For his numerous achievements in the field, Dr. Wong has been honored with several awards and grants, including the Rouse Travelling Fellowship, Australian and New Zealand Society of Neurodiologicum Prize, the Johnson and Johnson Medical Education Bursary prize, Private Practice Research and Education Trust Fund Scholarship from Princess Alexandra Hospital, the Schering Anniversary Research Grant, the Philips Medical Prize, the Brian Smith Memorial Award, the Siemens Medical Solutions Prize, the GE Medical Systems Research Prize, the Amersham Poster Prize, and the ANZAPNM Registrar Award. He was selected for inclusion in four volumes of Who's Who in the World from 2009 to 2012.

Dr. Wong credits his family for his success, and has two sons, Daniel Ju Lian and Michael Jae Dyn with his wife, Mary Anne. He enjoys going to the gym, swimming, and occasional skiing, as well as spending time with his children.
