Dr. Anbar is the recent Founder and President of Center Point Medicine, located in La Jolla, California. Dr. Anbar is a medical doctor who specializes in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, and pediatric hypnosis. He served as Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University from 2003 to 2015, as well as Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University from 1994 to 2002. He previously taught at the Hahnemann Medical University for four years, beginning in 1989.

Founded in 2014, the Center Point Medicine practice provides pediatric and adolescent medical hypnosis and counseling for children, adolescents, and young adults who can benefit from the use of mind/body techniques. Amy Chambers, FNP, is Dr. Anbar's associate in this practice. In response to a growing demand in Southern California, Dr. Anbar's practice has also begun offering hypnosis and counseling services for adults from Christine Sullivan, PhD, CNM, FNP.
On September 16, 2017, Dr. Anbar spoke at a national meeting of the American Academy of Pediatrics in Chicago regarding integrating hypnosis into pediatric practice. Invited by the organization's section on administration and practice management, his presentation provided information regarding his groundbreaking pediatric practice.

Dr. Anbar completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California at San Diego in 1979 and MD at the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine in 1983. He followed his education with a residency in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital between 1983 and 1986 as well as a clinical fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at the same hospital from 1986 to 1989.

Active in his community, Dr. Anbar served as the Director of the Bar and Bat Mitzvah Program at Germantown Jewish Centre in Philadelphia, PA earlier in his career. From 1994-2015, he served as Director of the Torah reading program at Temple Adath Yeshurun in Syracuse, NY. Since 2016 he has served in a similar capacity for Congregation Beth El in La Jolla, CA. For his volunteer work, he received an Alan Small Volunteerism Award by Temple Adath Yeshurun in 2000, and was named Volunteer of the Year by Syracuse Hebrew Day School in 2003.

An elected fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, Dr. Anbar has received numerous awards throughout his career in medicine. He was the recipient of the Central New York American Lung Association Asthma Award, granted by the American Lung Association in 1999, as well as a Certificate of Achievement in the Doctor's Writing Contest by Medical Economic, also in 1999. Additionally, he has received a Roy M. Dorcus Award by the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis in 2002, and two Josephine Hilgard Awards by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis in 2004 and 2007. He was the recipient of the William C. Wester award for Child Hypnosis given by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis in 2015.
